What is AngoSAP?

AngoSAP arose as an initiative within the framework of the CBHE (Capacity Building in Higher Education) Erasmus+ projects. The idea of the project was inspired by the model of the University of Cadiz and its Psychological Attention Service (SAP), adapting it to the needs of the Angolan context.

Currently, the Erasmus+ AngoSAP project coordinated by the University of Cadiz (Spain), counts with the cooperation of four universities in Angola: the University Óscar Ribas (UOR), the University of Namibe (UNINBE), the University Lueji A'Nkonde (ULAN) and the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação do Bié (ISCED-Bié), as well as the Faculty of Social Sciences of the RheinMain University (Germany).

After several months of effort and collaboration between all the universities involved, the CDOPs (Psychological and Psycho-educational Diagnosis and Guidance Centres) have been set up.
The Centres develop psychological and psycho-educational support programmes for students and local communities. They not only offer direct assistance, but also strengthen the institutional capacities of the participating universities, contributing to the emotional well-being, academic performance and professional integration of students in Angola.

Mission

The mission of the AngoSAP project is to create and develop Psychological and Psycho-educational Diagnosis and Guidance Centres (CDOP) in Angolan universities that provide specialised psychological and psycho-pedagogical assessment, diagnosis, intervention and follow-up services to the university community. These centres are designed to contribute to the emotional, physical and social well-being of students, teachers and members of the community through academic guidance, personalised psychological counselling, preventive activities and the development of intervention programmes based on best practices transferred from the universities of Cadiz and RheinMain. The mission seeks to strengthen the professionalisation of Angolan human capital in the field of educational psychology, while establishing a sustainable model of psychoeducational care adapted to the specific realities and contexts of Angola.

Purpose

The fundamental purpose of the AngoSAP project is to transfer the competences and skills developed in the Psychological Attention Service (SAP) of the University of Cadiz, and good practices developed in the RheinMain University to improve the quality of life of the Angolan university community through specialised psychoeducational services. This purpose encompasses the implementation of functional organisational structures, the training of qualified human resources, the provision of infrastructure and technological equipment of European standards, and the creation of quality systems. Through this transfer, the project seeks to respond to the needs of the Angolan context, thus transforming the quality of the educational experience and the psycho-emotional well-being of the students of the participating universities.

Vision

The general vision of the AngoSAP project is to position the Diagnostic and Psychoeducational Guidance Centres as reference institutions in the Angolan and African context, capable of offering quality psychological and psychoeducational care services that significantly improve the academic performance, personal development and quality of life of the university community. This vision is based on the creation of Euro-African networks of professionals specialised in educational psychology, the strengthening of alliances between institutions, and the generation of systematised knowledge on good practices in psycho-educational care that can be replicated in other higher education institutions in the country. Finally, the project aims to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals by promoting educational inclusion, gender equity, mental well-being and equal opportunities for all students of the participating Angolan universities.

AngoSAP Consortium

The University of Cadiz, located in Cadiz, Spain, acts as the coordinating institution of the Erasmus+ AngoSAP Project. It brings its extensive experience in European project management and in psychological and psycho-educational support services to students. Its model of Psychological Attention Service (SAP) has served as a reference for the design and development of CDOPs in Angola.

The Hochschule RheinMain, located in Wiesbaden, Germany, contributes to the project by sharing good practices in social intervention, training and institutional quality. Its experience in social work and applied approaches strengthens the training and methodological component of the project. RUAS supports the sustainable development and professionalisation of the services offered in the CDOPs.

The Oscar Ribas University, based in Luanda, Angola, is one of the key institutions in the implementation of the project in the country. It is actively involved in the creation and operation of its Centre for Psychological and Psycho-educational Diagnosis and Guidance (CDOP). It also contributes its knowledge of the local context and its commitment to the welfare of the university community.

The University of Namibe, located in Namibe, Angola, plays a key role in the territorial development of the project and hosts key activities of the consortium. It has established its own CDOP as a space of care, guidance and training for students and community. Its involvement reinforces the social impact of the project in southern Angola.

Lueji A'Nkonde University, located in Dundo, Lunda Norte province, Angola, contributes to the project through the progressive implementation of its CDOP. Its participation enables the project's reach to be extended to regions with greater needs for psycho-educational support. ULAN brings a strategic perspective from within the country.

The Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação do Bié (ISCED-Bié), located in Bié, Angola, is actively involved in the creation and consolidation of its recently inaugurated CDOP. Its focus on teacher training and education makes it a key player in knowledge transfer. ESPB strengthens the link between psychological support, education and community development.

Training

Training is one of the essential pillars of the AngoSAP project, aimed at strengthening the professional capacities of the specialists, technicians and researchers who make up the Diagnosis and Psychoeducational Guidance Centres (CDOP) in the participating Angolan universities. Through a comprehensive and structured training programme, the aim is to develop the competencies and skills necessary to ensure the provision of quality psychological and psycho-educational services. This component includes a series of specific and specialised courses and workshops designed by expert professors from the universities of Cadiz in Spain and RheinMain in Germany. This training ranges from fundamental aspects of the nature and functioning of psychoeducational services, to specific methodologies of intervention, prevention and counselling. The training aims at the sustainability and continuity of the training of professionals that will allow CDOPs to maintain standards of excellence and adapt to the emerging challenges in the field of psychological and psychoeducational university and community care in Angola.

The equipment of the different CDOPs represents another of the fundamental pillars of the AngoSAP project, establishing the material and technological bases necessary for the centres to function as specialised spaces for quality care. This component comprises a comprehensive infrastructure that includes offices for individualised care, group therapy rooms for preventive training and intervention, and user-friendly waiting areas. The computer equipment is particularly relevant, integrating desktop and laptop computers and videoconferencing systems that enable the provision of tele-diagnosis and tele-guidance services, thus extending the scope of psycho-educational care. In addition, specialised psychological assessment instruments have been provided for the evaluation of intelligence, personality, psychopathology, emotional and behavioural disorders in children, adolescents and adults. This complete provision of equipment ensures that the CDOPs can offer diagnostic, counselling and psycho-educational intervention services of European standards, consolidating their sustainable operational capacity in the Angolan university and community context.
