On 10 October, the successful Workshop 5.5: “Unified protocol for the transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders”.”, The course will be given by Professor Flavia Susana Arrigoni, PhD, in the framework of the Erasmus+ AngoSAP Project (101128979 - AngoSAP - ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE).
The four-hour session, held in a virtual format, brought together teachers, psychologists and professionals in the field of education from the participating universities. This training meeting is part of the preparatory activities for the operation of the Psychological and Psycho-educational Diagnosis and Guidance Centres (CDOP), an initiative that seeks to strengthen emotional and psycho-pedagogical care in higher education institutions in Angola.
During the workshop, Professor Arrigoni presented an introduction to the Unified Protocol (UP), a psychological intervention model that proposes a transdiagnostic approach to the treatment of emotional disorders. The training addressed several key issues. First of all, the theoretical background of the Unified Protocol was analysed, deepening its scientific basis and the principles underpinning its transdiagnostic efficacy. Subsequently, the viability and clinical usefulness of the PU was presented through experiences developed in the Aula Universitaria de Mayores, where this approach has proven to be useful in promoting emotional well-being in older people.
The results of the application and evaluation of the PU with university students were also shared, showing its potential as a tool for preventive psychological support and promotion of emotional balance in the academic environment. On the other hand, the adaptation of the PU for women with breast cancer was presented, an experience that shows its versatility to accompany emotional processes in complex physical and emotional health contexts.
The holding of this workshop is a significant step forward in international cooperation and specialised training, reinforcing the AngoSAP project's commitment to the development of strategies that promote psychological well-being, educational innovation and quality of life in the Angolan university environment.
